Deprecation of the Legacy Logs2Metrics (L2M) Pipeline
Published: November 12, 2025
Effective: December 15, 2025
Deprecation notice
Coralogix is deprecating the legacy Logs2Metrics (L2M) pipeline. After December 15, 2025, customers using the legacy L2M pipeline will automatically transition to Event2Metrics (E2M) for generating metrics from logs and spans.
- L2M will no longer ingest new data.
- All new metrics will be processed through E2M.
What you gain from this change
L2M has limitations that affect scalability and dashboard reliability. Event2Metrics (E2M) improves your experience in the following ways:
- Higher scale. E2M increases the permutation limit to 10 million, compared to 1 million in L2M, and supports higher-volume metric workloads.
- Better performance and storage. E2M provides faster, more efficient metric querying in Custom Dashboards, Visual Explorer, and Metric Explorer, with metrics processed as native time series stored in VictoriaMetrics.
- Richer signal coverage and aggregations. E2M supports both logs and spans and adds advanced aggregations such as histograms and samples.
- Integrated visualization and alerting. E2M integrates seamlessly with Grafana for dashboards and alerts.
What you need to do
Before December 15, 2025, review any dashboards and alerts that rely on L2M and migrate them to E2M-based metrics to avoid gaps in data and monitoring.
If you do not migrate, dashboards that rely on L2M will stop receiving new data, and alerts that rely on L2M will stop running.
Steps for customers still using L2M
If you still use L2M, and especially if you have OpenDashboard content based on L2M data, complete the following steps:
- Identify dashboards in OpenDashboard that rely on L2M data.
- Rebuild those dashboards in Grafana using E2M metrics. Customer Success (CS) is available to assist with this migration.
Historical L2M data
Historical L2M data will remain accessible for a limited time. CS contacts will provide timelines and access details to customers affected by the issue.
Pricing change
E2M billing is based on metric volume rather than log volume. Track your metric usage with Metric Usage Analysis.
