Alert Notification Settings
When you set up an alert definition, you may define notification settings:
- Notification cadence and frequency: Define how often and at what intervals notifications are sent once an alert is triggered.
- Resolution notification: Determine whether users should be notified when the alert condition is resolved.
- Alert scope and granularity: Control whether a single alert is triggered in Incidents for a broad condition or separate alerts are generated for each unique combination of conditions that meet the criteria.
- Notification destinations: Add a third-party destination for your notifications using Notification Center connector and preset configurations (recommended) or legacy webhooks.
Notification cadence
- Notify every: Set the cadence of notifications (e.g., every 0 hours and 10 minutes). This determines how often notifications are sent after the alert definition is triggered.
- Notify when resolved: Toggle to enable or disable notifications once the alert condition is resolved.
Alert scope & granularity
Define the alert scope and granuality. Select between the following options:
- Trigger a single alert when at least one combination of the group by values meets the condition. A single notification, aggregating all values matching an alert query and conditions, will be sent to Incidents. If no group by values are selected, a single alert is triggered when the alert definition is triggered.
- Trigger a separate alert for each combination that meets the condition. Multiple individual notifications for each Group By field value may be sent to Incidents when query conditions are met. Select one or more keys - consisting of a subset of the fields selected in the alert conditions - in the drop-down menu. A separate notification will be sent for each key selected.
Note
The number of Group by permutations is limited to 1000. If there are more permutations, then only the first 1000 are tracked.
Notification destination
Add a third-party destination for your alert notifications using Notification Center connector and preset configurations (recommended) or legacy webhooks.
Add a destination
- To add a connector, click + Add destination.
- Configure the connector for the connector type. When you select a connector, the preset and channel are auto-populated with your default selections.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Send to | Select an existing connector per connector type for the alert notification. |
Notify when resolved | Toggle on or off to receive a notification when the issue is resolved in this specific destination. |
Channel | Toggle between list and template. Dynamic, templatable field that defines where a notification is sent within a Slack workspace |
